School Aide - Family and Educational Support Services
Full-time Position
Location: New York, NY (on-site)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, energetic and committed Pre-K School Aide for our preschool artbased and Reggio-inspired curriculum and program. Pre-K School Aide supports teachers and staff in providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for preschool-aged children throughout the school. The aide assists with school-wide activities, supervises students, and supports children’s learning, social development, and basic care needs across classrooms and common areas. This role fostering positive and effective collaboration with educational staff, families and other necessary agencies, while following BHC policies and procedures, Head Start and NYC Department of Education Performance Standards, Article 47, and other guidelines. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for early childhood special education to help us continue making a positive impact on children's lives.
Key Responsibilities
Help prepare and organize learning materials and classroom supplies.
Assist the lead teacher with classroom instruction and activities.
Supervise children during class time, playtime, meals, and outdoor activities.
Support children with basic needs such as dressing, handwashing, and bathroom routines.
Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.
Help manage classroom behavior and encourage positive social interactions.
Assist with small group instruction.
Observe students and report concerns or progress to the teacher.
Support arrival and dismissal procedures.
Participate in classroom setup and maintenance.
Assist with setting up meals for children.
Support in the kitchen with meal distribution (as needed).
Help children open food containers, milk cartons, and utensils.
Check for and follow student allergy restrictions.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent/Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
NYC Food Handler’s Certification (preferred).
Experience working with young children preferred.
Patience, kindness, and strong communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team with teachers and staff.
Basic knowledge of child safety and development.
Active environment requiring standing, bending, and interacting with children throughout.
CPR/First Aid certification (preferred)

Salary commensurate with experience and the position will pay $40,000 - $48,000 per year.
