Dorothy Day Early Childhood Center provides a full-day licensed Head Start program for children ages three to five. We serve over 50 families from Dorothy Day Apartments and the neighboring community. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 2:45 pm from September through July.

Led by our Director of Early Childhood Education, each of the three state of the art classrooms is staffed by a teacher certified in early childhood education and two assistant teachers. The curriculum recognize that children learn in the context of family, community and culture. Active learning environments and experiences support the children's social, physical, cognitive and creative development through structured play and meaningful interactions with real materials, ideas and people.

The Center offers family trainings, volunteer opportunities and outings encouraging family members to become active partners in the healthy development and education of their children.
