Our Board of Directors The Rev. John Felice (Chair), The Rev. John McVean. Fathers John Felice and John McVean are founders of St. Francis Friends of the Poor, which sponsors three supportive housing projects in Manhattan for the homeless mentally ill. They have provided steadfast assistance to Broadway Housing on programmatic issues as well as on building maintenance, construction, budgeting and operational matters. John Cooper-Mullin (Treasurer). An investment banker, Mr. Mullin was Managing Director with Rothschild Inc. for 20 years. Since 2000, he has been associated with Redwall Partners, LLC, a division of RP& C International Securities Inc. Mr. Mullin is a founding member of the Irvington Education Association. Valerie Campbell, Esq (Secretary). Ms. Campbell is Of Counsel with Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP specializing in land use, historic preservation and environmental review law. Prior to joining Kramer Levin, she served as counsel for New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and Deputy Counsel of New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Ellen Baxter (Founder, Executive Director). A mainstay of Broadway Housing’s history and current operations, Ellen Baxter is a pioneer in creating innovative, cost-effective, comprehensive programs to redress the problems of homelessness and poverty. Ms. Baxter participates on the boards of directors of several not-for-profit organizations with related missions: the Corporation for Supportive Housing, St. Francis Friends of the Poor and the New York Coalition for the Homeless. Johnny Celestin. Mr. Celestin was formerly a Senior Manager at Robin Hood Foundation and worked closely with Broadway Housing to access technical assistance for the agency in the areas of Board Development and governance, fiscal management, technology and fundraising. Prior to joining Robin Hood, Mr. Celestin had 4 years of consulting experience with Accenture, LLP. Mr. Celestin is currently working to open a bakery in Harlem. Yuien Chin. Ms. Chin, a long time resident and activist in the West Harlem community, is executive director of the Hamilton Heights-West Harlem Community Preservation Organization and spearheaded the landmarking efforts to recognize the architectural and cultural significance of the Hamilton Heights/Sugar Hill neighborhoods. The Rev. Earl Kooperkamp. Based at the St. Mary’s Manhattanville Episcopal Church, The Rev. Koopercamp is a clergy leader actively involved in community health, housing and social justice concerns. Monsignor Thomas Leonard. Msgr. Leonard, the Vicar for the west side of Manhattan for the Catholic Archdiocese of New York, is a founding Board member of Broadway Housing and founder and board member of the Incarnation Children’s Center in Washington Heights, which provides residential care to children with AIDS. Carolyn Nash. Carolyn Nash is Associate Director of Goddard Riverside Community Center, one of New York’s leading human services organizations. Prior to joining Goddard Riverside, Ms. Nash was Director of the Survival Programs at Robin Hood Foundation. Carolyn Powell. Carolyn Powell is a leader in the supportive housing movement having served as Chief Financial & Administrative Officer for Corporation for Supportive Housing, Inc., a national organization, since 2001. |
